Our policy work focuses on maximizing carbon financing and efficiency gain opportunities in the transition to a low carbon economy, and linking the voluntary carbon market with compliance obligations under the Kyoto Protocol. This work is designed to link climate change solutions to other drivers of global change including international oil prices, food and water security, and resource conflict. We are convinced that well designed policy solutions are capable of building a more efficient and more resilient economy.
We assist developing country governments develop national policy and strategy frameworks for climate change mitigation. This includes linking policy and technical dimensions of national programmes to reduce emissions from deforestation and degradation (REDD), and institutional strengthening for carbon trading.
We also translate climate science, emissions reduction goals, emissions trading, and climate solutions into English to enable informed decisions by decision-makers in the business and public policy spheres. This work is closely linked to our educational work.
Current clients include the governments of Fiji and Vanuatu, the ANZICE Programme at Victoria University of Wellington, and the Nelson City Council.
We are dedicated to facilitating a greater understanding of climate science, emissions reduction goals, emissions trading and climate change solutions to a variety of audiences depending on background and need.
Carbon Partnership teaches university courses and supervises postgraduate research students (Masters and PhD) in global environmental change, climate science, climate policy, emissions trading and carbon markets, and climate change solutions.
We developed (with GtripleC and The Climate Group) a guidebook entitled "Leaders Guide to International Emissions Trading and Carbon Markets." This booklet was distributed to all UNFCCC negotiating parties at Poznan in 2008, and our leading customers included Tony Blair and Ban Ki Moon (Director General of the UN).
We develop and review climate change, energy, and natural resource materials for educational institutions.
We also provide mentoring services in environmental leadership. Our mentoring program is called Ekodo (eko - ecological; do - way) and is designed as a professional development mentoring program for current and aspiring environmental professionals. See Ekodo facebook page here.

We provide climate change research services with a particular focus on comprehensive peer-reviewed literature-based assessments of current knowledge in a specific area of climate change science, policy, or management. We also provide social science research services with methodologies including questionnaires, interviews and focus groups. Current/recent clients include CCANZ, and Landcare Research Ltd.
