
Sean has over 20 years experience in environmental protection in New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. He specializes in 'can-do' solutions to climate change problems with an emphasis on voluntary actions. He has expertise and interests in reducing emissions from deforestation and degradation of natural forests, carbon footprint reduction, waste-energy and forest-energy synergies, climate policy, climate change education and communication s, and carbon markets.
His work focuses on carbon project/programme design, government relations, project and program fund raising, and project management, together with domestic and international climate change policy (New Zealand, Vanuatu, and Fiji). He has been a UNFCCC and World Bank negotiator for Vanuatu.
He is an adjunct Senior Lecturer in the School of Geography Environment and Earth Sciences, Senior Associate at the Institute of Policy Studies, Victoria University of Wellington, and a member of the Ako Aotearoa Academy of Teaching Excellence.
Sean is an educational specialist in climate change science/policy and carbon markets. He is a recipient of a National Tertiary Teaching Excellence Award, and 6 teaching excellence awards at Victoria University of Wellington (including Best Lecturer Faculty of Science 3 times).
He has previously worked for Victoria University of Wellington (Senior Lecturer Environmental Studies Program); NZ Parliament (Policy Advisor), Native Forest Action, as an environmental consultant (IUCN, WWF, Greenpeace), the University of the South Pacific (Lecturer), and the Royal Forest and Bird Protection Society.
He is a member of the NZ Royal Society Climate Committee and has been an expert reviewer for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
Jo has over 15 years o
f experience in environmentaleducation, social dimensions of environmental management and as an environmental artist. Her main role within Carbon Partnership is to support the educational aspects of our work. Alongside this, she is developing the application of art as an educational tool.
Jo's environmental education background includes her work as the Environmental Education Curriculum Advisor for primary schools in the Wellington region (Victoria University of Wellington), and the Environmental Education Officer for Greater Wellington Regional Council.
Her work in the social dimensions of environmental management includes her role as Social Science Researcher for the Sustaining Environments and Livelihoods In Mountainous Areas project in Bolivia, focusing on sustainable land practices among indigenous communities in an alpine region. She also worked in community sustainable development as the ECOlinks officer for ECO Trust, an environmental information charity based in Bristol, UK.
Jo has a Masters degree in Ecology and Sociology from University of West of England, and a degree in Fine Arts from Herriot Watt University, Edinburgh.
Jo and Sean are the two company directors of Carbon Partnership Ltd, are married and have two children.

Rod has MSc majoring in Physical Geography and a BSc majoring in Environmental Studies and Geography, Victoria University of Wellington. He is a specialist in waste/energy synergies in climate changemitigation and low footprint business activity. With two years experience in the UK in the waste management sector he brings valuable skills to the core Carbon Partnership team.
His project experience has included: waste auditing, monitoring, communications, training, education, research and service change implementation for local authorities, businesses, NGO's, schools and community organisations. Under Rods supervision projects have been delivered to their fullest potential, often yielding large and quantifiable results, directly reducing the GHG emissions from some of the UKs largest emitters in the waste sector.
Rod has also conducted research on land use change and the terrestrial carbon cycle and has a keen interest in the interface between science and policy. Additionally, Rod also brings wide ranging skills as a fully qualified technician, allowing him to engage with a wide range of tasks and applications.
